Applied Biomonitoring is an environmental consulting
firm specializing in field bioassays with caged bivalves. This unique experience and
expertise to design, plan, and conduct in-situ field assessments
has been developed over the
past 30 years by conducting more than 35 transplant studies with over 45,000 animals.
These field assessments included 12 different species of marine, estuarine, and freshwater
bivalves transplanted in various habitats from the intertidal zone to a depth of 70
meters.
This unique capability has been integrated with extensive
experience in more traditional laboratory bioassays and field monitoring
allowing Applied Biomonitoring to help clients
interpret results of all studies that include assessments of bioaccumulation and
bioeffects. Interpreting exposure and effects data has become another
specialty as a result of this work. Other services
include technical and critical
review of scientific and technical documents; meeting coordination and facilitation;
literature compilation, interpretation, and synthesis; work plan development and
evaluation; and data review and evaluation.
